Visual identity design and naming for a recording studio and sound / audio production company in New York.

 
 
 

NISHLA Design was tasked with the opportunity to develop the brand name for the New-York-based recording studio. Before considering the design approach, we explored numerous options for the name that would speak to the intended brand voice.

In our discovery session, several key words resonated with the founder, and it became evident that, whatever name was developed, it needed to be one of impact. There were a number of key ideals expressed for the brand: powerful, dependable, welcoming, motivational, trustworthy, epic and friendly, to name a few.

 
 


 

With these visual words circulating, it was time to research and ideate on the brand name. When it was time to present the name some weeks later, we felt confident that the one presented embodied all that was expressed in our sessions with the founder.

As we shared the name, Double Bass, there was an overwhelming, “Yes!! That’s it!”

 
 
 
 

The name was not only representative of a bold, strong sound that could be clearly heard, but it was one that sounded powerful as well.

And so, Double Bass Studios was born.

 
 

 
 
 
 

For the brand identity, we decided that a visual nod could be given to the “D” and “B” of “Double Bass” in order to reinforce the brand name, making it an ownable mark.

NISHLA Design explored the universally-identifiable forms of music notes to introduce the idea of the brand name.

 
 
 
 
 

The idea of creating a meaningful and compelling stand-alone “DB” mark, that could also double as the icon for the brand was central to the design process. This makes the mark unique, memorable and distinguishable from others.
